I enjoy figuring stuff out; mathematics, physics, and programming turn out to be great tools for that.
Hello! My name is Carl and I am broadly interested in problems in string theory, quantum field theory, and machine learning. When I am not doing physics, I am working in tech.
I graduated from Imperial College London with an Msc in Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces (Distinction; 78%) in 2025. And did my masters research on moduli spaces and brane constructions of theories with 8 supercharges under the supervision of Professor Amihay Hanany (88%; PDF)
Currently, I am doing an internship at a start up working as an AI engineer on improving inference times for agentic workflows. Before this, I worked for the Digital Campus team at Imperial on various backend and analytics tools, such as for the 3D campus map application and the occupancy analytics system.
I wrote up some lecture notes on string theory (PDF). They are still quite rough in certain places, this may or may not change in the future :)
I am currently working through some of the homework problems in String Theory and M-Theory by Becker, Becker, and Schwarz. And my solutions can be found here:
